TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND IN MEMORY OF E.M.H. 1965
1965
1965: We regret to report the death recently of Miss Edith Hammond. Miss Hammond came to Hexham in 1949 after serving during the war as County Secretary of the Northumberland Red Cross and was a staunch member of the Abbey and a regular communicant at 8-30 a.m. [Abbey Chronicle, June 1965]
1966: All Communicants who make their Communion at the High Altar on the first Sunday in the month, will be grateful to Miss [Clementine Mary] Hawthorn who, in memory of her friend the late Miss Hammond, has given the movable Communion Rail which is now used to join together, at Communion time, the two fixed rails. This is a real help to many people. [Abbey Chronicle, Jan 1966]
