No Place of Safety

The Abbey is privileged to be hosting a dramatic reading of Johanna Alberti’s play No Place of Safety

As a member of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme run by the World Council of Churches, Johanna has extensive first-hand experience of the fraught situation in the Holy Land, and in her play she invites audiences to reflect on the witness of those who have been working tirelessly for reconciliation. One such voice is Robi Damelin who encourages us that ‘while words alone cannot mend the wounds or bring back the lives lost, they can serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility to end this cycle of violence’.

The dramatic reading of No Place of Safety will take place in the Abbey on Friday, 17 May, at 6pm, and will be followed by a discussion with Johanna. This event is free; donations are warmly encouraged: these will go towards the work of Medical Aid of Palestine and the work of the Abbey.
