Hexham Abbey Festival of Music and Arts

We are delighted that Hexham Abbey Festival is returning for 2021. The festival will be a slightly slimmed down version of the usual programme and will take place on 16th and 17th September.

From the Baltic to Bresica and back
17th September 2021, 1pm and 4pm
Great Hall, Hexham Abbey

A musical journey charting the earliest Italian violin sonatas and the spread of the style northwards across the Alps. 

Featuring:

Rachel Stroud - baroque violin
Jacob Garside - viola da gamba
John Green - harpsichord

A wonderful mix of German and Italian sonatas including works by Buxtehude and Schmelzer, and Italians, Castello, Rognoni, Fontana and Frescobaldi.
