WILDERNESS ENCOUNTERS THEN AND NOW

In the scriptures some of the key encounters with God occur in the physical wilderness – in barren, harsh and desert terrain. A landscape, stripped bare, seemed to encourage a deep human response to the ever calling God. In this series, after setting the context, we will explore four of these key encounters – Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist and Jesus.

Most of us will feel that we have been living in a kind of wilderness in these last few months, caused by Covid and the isolation it has brought about. As part of this series there will be a chance to reflect on, and share, some of the feelings and experiences we have had over this immensely challenging year.

Wilderness experiences can be both transformative and painful, full of insight and despairing.  I hope that during these sessions we can find ways of listening to and supporting each other but also reflecting on how God has in the past spoken, and now in the present still speaks, into times of wilderness and longing.

The series begins on Tuesday 23rd February at 7pm and continues each week until Tuesday 23rd March. Everyone is welcome but you will need to register.
