‘Rectors and Lecturers’ – the thanks of the present Rector, as well as of many future Rectors, and indeed the thanks also of the general congregations of the Abbey, are due to Mr Stanley James who has provided, prepared, inscribed, and mounted, entirely free of charge in the South Transept Aisle, a new marble tablet on which the list of Rectors and Lecturers of Hexham [HEXAB1009] may be continued. It is a very handsome piece of work indeed. It fits ideally into its setting, and will serve the Abbey for many years to come. [Abbey Chronicle, Jan 1969, p.2]
