Hexham Jazz Festival 2022 brings together top musicians from around the country to perform in Hexham Abbey, which boasts some of the best acoustics in the region.
The Friday Evening Ticket gains entry to two performances:
Hot Club du Nord 7.30pm
You can expect fresh, inspired interpretations of the material as well as recreations of some of the delightful arrangements from the original recordings. A treat for connoisseurs of swinging, string jazz and lovers of all things vintage!
“For lovers of the classic Stephane Grappelli – Django Reinhardt approach. This is right up there amongst the best in the UK” - Paul Bream. Jazz Alert.
Paul Edis and Graeme Wilson 9.00pm
An unconventional setting for a jazz gig, the duo revel in the chance to play with the incredible acoustics and atmosphere, summoning up the sounds of heaven and hell in a continuous improvised set.
“A performance of bravura free improvisation with a melodic basis….these are two of the finest improvisers in the North-East” - Andy Hamilton, Jazz Journal.
Please note seating for both events is unreserved, mainly cafe style seating.
The festival offers a full weekend of concerts with profits being donated to research at Newcastle University's Centre of Cancer.
