Jo Harrop with the Paul Edis Trio plus The Nick Branton Trio **Postponed**

**Postponed**

Further to both the World Heath Organisation and Public Health England's advice the Rotary Jazz Festival planned for May 15 - 17th 2020 has been postponed. An alternative date in November has been reserved by both the Abbey and the performers but the details will not be confirmed until August when further advice should be available regarding public gatherings.

Hexham Rotary are of course very disappointed as the event was principally a fundraising initiative for both their Emergency and Disaster Fund and the new Cancer Research fund, but there was no alternative but to postpone the event under the circumstances.

Jo Harrop with the Paul Edis Trio

Described as a 'velvet voiced' singer, Jo is a rising star in teh UK and Europe. She's performed at venues across the capital, including: the Royal Albert Hall, 606 Club, Pizza Express, the Hideaway, and at festivals and clubs all over the UK, headlining Scarborough Jazz Festival, Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival and performing at Sage Gateshead.

She joins 'brilliant young pianist' Paul Edis and virtusosos Andy Chapman (double bass) and Russ Morgan (drums) to perform swinging music rooted in the straight-ahead tradition.

The Nick Branton Trio

Originally formed as a tribute to the Pee Wee Russell album "Ask Me Now", the trio has developed away from a rigid set of tunes. Their music is very much influenced by the album but now they move through a mix of dixieland, swing and 'classic' free jazz, using the frameworks of the tunes to explore their own approach to improvising and creating music.
